Wishful Wednesday... Diet Edition

Oh, it's my very favorite topic again... Coincidence that this just KEEPS coming up?  I think not!
I wish' .... I had the willpower to stay on one particular diet, and it would be ____________!

Um... any diet?  And, yes, I've tried most of them.  Weight WatchersSkinny BitchFlat Belly.  (If you'd rather just see a quick diet-in-review post... click here.  Warning - it isn't very encouraging.)

Seriously, my will power when it comes to food is ZERO.  And, joking aside, I really wish I could be in a place where I am FINALLY ready to do what it takes to be healthy... When I think about having a baby in the near future and - for that matter - wearing a bathing suit in the MUCH NEARER future, I KNOW how important it is that I take care of myself.  But, so far, I haven't found something I can stick to...

One thing I've been hearing A LOT about lately is the Weigh Station.  Have you heard of it?  It is pretty amazing.  If I had a lot of extra money, I would DEFINITELY try it.

From what I understand, the Weigh Station basically takes a wholistic approach to weight loss that involves being monitored by a physician, nutritionalist, dietician, etc.  The first session involves extensive medical tests including blood work, EKG, blood pressure, body-fat index, etc.  You are also given multi-vitamins and B-12 injections to work specifically with your body.  And, each person has an individualized diet and exercise plan.  This is also a Christian-based weight loss program, so they rely heavily on prayer and meditation too (which I think is super important).  It isn't cheap AT ALL, but it definitely sounds like you get a lot of bang for your buck!

One friend of mine has already lost 55 pounds this way SINCE CHRISTMAS!  Pretty amazing!

  2. Girl, I'm in the same place you are! Although you've actually shown more dedication than I have- I haven't even TRIED the diets- I have taken some health classes and worked out a lot, and when I came home from college several years ago, I did great.... but yup, I just love to eat. And I'm busy. So.... I'm not fat at all, but I have that darn belly that when I think about kids in the semi-near future, well, I'm with you.

  4. One thing that worked for me and my husband is The Zone Diet. You tailor it to your dietary needs based on your level of activity. It teaches you how to distinguish between good carbs ans bad carbs and how to portion everything correctly. We both have lost inches (which is more important than weight, especially if you are exercising)and feel great! You should check it out. The website is www.zonediet.com.

  6. Have to comment b/c Mike & I just watched Rules of Engagement last night. Do you watch it? One of the storylines was re: how one of the female characters has zero self-control w/ dieting. It was really funny (and so true to how hard it is to resist when you are craving!). Maybe you can watch online and chuckle. :) I like Eating for Your Blood Type. I think the idea that certain blood types need/should avoid certain foods is super interesting (though my hub thinks its ridiculous.....)

  7. The weigh station sounds like a great 'diet' just really time consuming and expensive.... I've tried the Skinny Bitch but barely lasted two weeks- haha.

  8. Honestly, the Weigh Station scares me a bit. It doesn't seem like it should be necessary to take B-12 injections in order to lose weight...

    The key for me has just been to eat a ton of vegetables :)

  10. I've been using the Abs Diet for Women book,and I absolutely LOVE it! When I first started I spent a LOT of time thinking about food and eating in general, but 2 weeks in, it's really become second nature to me. All the recipes are actually really really tasty, and as it's not a "set diet," you can pick and choose what you like.

    Living at the beach means bikini season started last week, so I've been working out a lot (or trying to!) also :)
