Welcome Fall!

Friends, I LOVE fall.  I'm not even going to lie and pretend like I like summer. Of course, being a teacher, I look forward to the time off, but you can have your frizzy hair, sunburns, and spaghetti straps.  After the worst summer on record - both temperature wise and hot/sweaty/fat wise - I was never so glad to see Labor Day come and mark the end of summer.

Welcome Fall!

We celebrated by doing absolutely no labor and, instead, staying in our pajamas literally all day, watching movies, eating "chicken in the crock pot," and organizing my life (more on that later).  It was POURING down rain which only made me happier - weird, I know.  I am so glad it's cozy season. :)

Here are a few things I'm looking forward to over the next three months (in no particular order):

Sam's new fall outfits I picked up on Sunday at Baby Gap

I figure this will be the only year I can get away with putting him in sweater leggings - no?

The Clemson vs. Virginia Tech Football Game

Our schools only play each other every four years (or something like that), but when they do it is rivalry at its finest at our house.  So far the Tiger's track record isn't too great, but I'm not giving up hope.  This year we are going to the game with my friend Meg and her husband (I'm stocking up on Clemson fans) and there is a lot at stake... The winner of the game will determine where Sam goes to college.  (P.S. Is a 12 week old too young to go to a football game? I'm being serious.)

The Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival

Our friend Lisa's family runs this, and it has become a fall tradition for us.  The farm is beautiful, and I love a good corn maze. ;)

Sweaters

Here's one I'm currently coveting from JCrew - perfect for the aforementioned football game.

Fall weddings

Truth be told, I wish I'd gotten married in the fall; it just isn't very practical for a teacher.  I love all the colors and cute decorating ideas.  This year, we have my cousin Lauren's wedding on October 8th and Jeff's brother's wedding on the 22nd.  I can't wait!

Starbucks Caramel Apple Cider

I realize I'm the only one in the world, but I don't really like Pumpkin Spice.  This, on the other hand, is heaven in my mouth!

Halloween

Halloween is a BIG deal in our neighborhood - our street is even closed down and the neighbors give out hotdogs.  This year, I'm so excited to have a baby to dress up so we aren't just the weird ones with a dog in a too-small pumpkin costume. (Not that Addy won't still be in costume.)

What are you most looking forward to?

  2. I love fall and like you could not have welcomed it warmer this year! I love all the clothing, smells, sights, colors. I cannot wait for cold weather drinks from Starbucks (love the apple cider) and crunching of leaves. Bring on the Fall is all it's beauty!

  3. I hope 12 weeks isnt too young to take a baby to a game because we took two 7 week old babies to their first Clemson gam last year... http://thekimseys.blogspot.com/2010/11/c-l-e-m-s-ooooo-n.html

  4. See, I knew we were on the same wavelength before, but this post just confirms it. I ADORE fall, just wish I lived somewhere where the climate agreed with me. Is it so much to ask that it's not 90 degrees and that the leaves change? No?

And you're not alone. The PSL is okay, but I infinitely prefer the cider :)

  5. bring on the sweaters... 'cozy season' is definitely my fave... hot summers don't agree with my pale skin and freckles {or pregnancy induced cankles}.

I can't wait to read about your costume ideas ;)

  7. I am also so ready for fall :) But I must say that I am rooting for little Sam to become a Hokie, I will be at that game also (I go to Tech and live in Blacksburg). I don't have a baby so I don't have any advice on taking him to the game or not, but I will tell you we are a prettyyy loud and rowdy crowd!

  11. Oh I loved reading this! You crack me up and I couldn't agree with you more. I'm in sunny San Diego where the weather was warm and muggy this past weekend... but I still baked pumpkin muffins and pretended like Fall was here. Love all of the things you posted so much it makes me giddy. And I can't wait to dress up my little fella for his first Halloween too! So fun!

  12. I just did a fall post too! Who doesn't love sweatshirt weather?! By the way, we are going to the Clemson/VT game and we're taking Luke, who will only be two months old (on game day!) I'm trying to get him used to the baby carrier now and plan to "wear" him to the game. Thankfully, my husband was a member of the G.E.R.M.A.N Club at VT so we have a close spot to tailgate. GC has a great manor where we can go if it gets hot/too sunny/rainy/windy or if Luke decides he's not into the whole stadium thing. (Or if we have seats near a belligerent college student!) I'm a total stranger but you're welcome to come to the GC Manor if you and Sam need to!

  13. Yay go Tigers!

I so was hoping I could make it back to a game this year, but I think I don't think it's going to happen this year! Definitely hoping to make it back next season!!
