Oops... No Confessions Today, Surgery Tomorrow

It looks like I'm not going to get a confessions post up today.  Sorry friends.

Some knucklehead thought that the day semester grades are due would be an excellent time to schedule her son's ENT surgery.  Ha!

In all seriousness, y'all say a little prayer for us bright and early tomorrow morning.  We are going in at 6:45AM for bi-lateral tubes in Sam's ears, and a possible adenoid removal.  It is strange; but, because of the adenoids' location, the doctor won't be able to get a good look at them to tell if they are enlarged/needing to come out (which I'm fully expecting them to be) until after Sam is under anesthesia tomorrow.  I've hesitated saying anything about that part of the surgery on here, because it is a little more controversial* than tubes alone; but after doing our own research and talking to many mom friends, I feel confident that it is the right thing to do if the surgeon recommends it.  Both are considered pretty mild surgeries, but it is still scary for a mama.  Regardless, my fear is definitely outweighed by my excitement about my boy finally feeling GOOD (and hopefully talking soon, as a bonus).  #hehasnoideawhatiscoming

*I'm sure many of you have been here before with your own little ones, so if you have any advice or encouragement, I'd love to hear it; but, let's save the debate for another day. Ok?

Anyway, thanks for letting MC slide today.  I'll try to get it back up and running for the new year next week!

  4. We were new people after my daughter had her tonsils and adenoids removed at age 2! Also, my son has had tubes three times and an adenoid removed. You will love having a happily sleeping child who is not sick all the time. Praying all goes well!

  5. We had tubes and adenoids done in September at 18 months. Waking up from anesthesia was the worst part! Otherwise, he is doing great, he hasn't had an ear infection, and his speech has improved drastically! Y'all will do great!

  6. My husband had his adenoids removed as an adult! The doctor said it was way worse to have them removed as an adult than having them removed as a toddler! So, you are one wise mama to have them removed now, if need be. Prayers and blessings! :)
