Help a Brother Out!

I wouldn't usually do this kind-of thing... but, it is for a good cause (and a good friend)!

Our friend Jake (you might remember him from here) is participating in a 150 mile bike ride for Multiple Sclerosis in June.  He recently had a friend diagnosed with MS and - being an adventuresome and "take charge" kind-of person - jumped on the wagon (err, bike) to help!
According to the website: The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will use funds collected from the MS Bike Tour to not only support research for a cure tomorrow, but also to provide programs which address the needs of people living with MS today. Because we can fight this disease by simply riding a bike, because we have chosen to help thousands of people through a contribution to the MS Bike Tour, we are now getting closer to the hour when no one will have to hear the words, "You have MS."

If you have any interest at all, I URGE you to support Jake and his team.  You can click here for a link to his page.  It's always fun to find ways to connect people's passions AND a charity. :) Thanks guys!!

And... as a (only kind-of related) fun fact: Medical research is close to my heart BECAUSE my grandfather gave the very first polio vaccination in 1954.  Polio is definitely one of those diseases that you never hear about anymore... what a blessing!!

This is my grandfather to the right and, despite what it looks like, I promise he did not hurt that little girl.  Here is an article about him from The Washington Post after he died in 2006. He was really a pretty incredible man. (In more ways than just this one!)  Anyway, just thought I'd take this semi-appropriate time to share my little claim to fame...

Beauty Dilemma

I have a terrible dilemma.

As you know, my skin hates me.  I mean, really... Right now, I have a sty on my eye, zit on my forehead (who gets them there?), scarred knees, and exceptionally pale legs. So as not to completely gross you out, we will focus only on the legs today.

Since your recommendations for my Taylor Swift outfit debacle, I have been using Jergen's Natural Glow lotion on my arms and legs.  (I have tried many different variations, but this one seems to be the most tried and true.) I like it - it smells nice, isn't too expensive, and other people seem to have great success, BUT...

... For WEEKS now, I have been using this product every.single.day.  And, my legs still resemble sticks of chalk (the chubby side-walk kind, not the long thin blackboard variation) - in color AND texture. I am SO frustrated.  Skirt season is here and my uncooperative legs are still hanging out back in JANUARY!

**Seriously, more than one person has commented on how I need to get some sun.  Hello people!  Do you think this is my preference?!?!

I've been doing a lot of thinking about this, AND, I've come to the conclusion that SHAVING is the problem.  You see, my ARMS seem to be retaining some pigment, but my legs - not a hint.  The only difference... shaving.

Which brings me to my dilemma...
Is it better to have SMOOTH and (very) PALE legs or (slightly) TAN and PRICKLY legs?

Believe me folks, this is not an easy decision.

And, to clarify, getting some weird tan-in-a-can instant spray is not really an option either.  I am a sweater - as in, I SWEAT A LOT and the product would run.  Although, of course, I imagine I could become an actual wooly sweater, if I stick with the self-tanner lotion all summer...

Oy vey!
