A Few Random/Weird Things

1. My feet have grown like crazy since before I was pregnant.  Not even just wider, they are significantly LONGER.  NONE of my shoes fit.  Seriously.  Jeff thinks it is part of my master plan to ruin him get a whole new shoe wardrobe, but it's true - even he admits that my feet at SQUEEZED into my shoes.  I never realized how uncomfortable wearing too-small shoes all day every day was.  Miserable.  I'll be shoe shopping this weekend - silver lining, for sure.

2. My hair is falling out again.  It is awful.  Remember when I had bump-it hair because of hormones?  No more.  I'm considering knitting a sweater out of the contents of my bathroom floor.  Do you think it would sell on Etsy?

3. Sam has stopped sleeping.  We have moved him to his bedroom, which might be part of the problem, but he is too big for his bassinet.  Almost every night for about two weeks he wakes up between 3 and 4AM wide awake and ready to play.  I've read that this sometimes happens when Mom goes back to work because Baby wants to spend time with her.  That's sweet and all, but... I could do without it.  Anyone else have experiences like this?  What should we do?  I can't really function on no sleep AND work.  Is he ready to cry-it-out?

4. I have eaten Reece Peanut Butter Pumpkins for dinner the last two nights. They are just too darn good.

That's all I've got.  Bye for now!

Halloween 2011

Ok, I realize that Halloween is SO yesterday now and every good blogger posted photos, like, 24 hours ago... BUT, these days, I'm feeling pretty proud just for posting two days in a row.  Take it or leave it...

Halloween 2011: The Year of the Cuddly Pea Pod

The pumpkin my dad carved for the occasion... It says "Sam's 1st" in case you can't tell.

I loved seeing Sam in this costume even more than I loved all-I-could-eat candy day.  Seriously. I'm clearly bias, but I don't think I've ever seen a cuter pea pod... I figure I've got many years of fake blood and weird monsters and other "boy costumes" in my future... So I soaked up every minute of his sweet little cozy costume this year. (And by "little," I mean "he is squeezed into it and would have busted out if Halloween had been one day later.") L.O.V.E.D. I.T.

And, in a very close second for the most adorable sight of the night...

My girl... Looking very girly.  And happy, no?

We celebrated Sam's first Halloween with both of our families.  It was the perfect fall night for bundling up on the front porch, eating chili, and gorging ourselves on handing out candy to (literally) hundreds of trick-or-treaters.  I might love our neighborhood the most at Halloween.

Sam slept through about 98% of the night - how could he resist when he was so warm and toasty? - but, I still think he enjoyed his first holiday... In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was his best Halloween yet.  ;) It was mine, for sure.

Ok, I'm off to stalk other bloggers who hand-made their kids costumes and feel a tiny bit guilty... for a minute.  There's always next year.

Grand Finale

Remember I told you I had a bad week last week?  Well, shortly after I wrote that post I proceeded to spill 6 oz. of breast milk ALL OVER my school computer.  I don't know if I was more angry about absolutely ruining my computer, OR about the loss of liquid gold.  Anyway, the screen went completely black and wouldn't turn on the rest of the weekend.  World - 15, Me - 0.

Then, the weather turned to mush and we missed Dapalooza IV (our friends AmanDA and DAvey's annual outdoor extravaganza) because we couldn't chance snow with a baby and my bad cold.  This is one of my favorite events of the fall, so I was really sad to skip it this year... Especially later in the day when it turned out to be absolutely BEAUTIFUL outside.  Go figure.

And, the GRAND FINALE to a horrible week... Clemson LOST Saturday night to Georgia Tech.  UGG. We were 8-0 and #5 in the nation going into this game (I even had Jeff wearing Clemson garb and rooting for a National title this year).  Apparently, the last time they were 8 -0 was in 2000 and they lost their 9th game to GT. Stink.  Anyway, it was for no lack of spirit on our end... Here we are at my parent's "tailgating" before the game:
Thank goodness Clemson's color is orange so Sam could be festive for Halloween and the Tigers.

Apparently Poppy didn't get the memo about wearing orange... He also bad-mouthed Clemson all night.  He might get kicked out of the family.

And, during the game... As you can see, even Sam was very stressed out about it.

Luckily, as weeks tend to do, it ended... And it's hard to be a Debbie Downer when you have a sweet little pumpkin at home celebrating his first Halloween tonight.  :)  My house is clean, laundry is (almost) caught up, pumpkin goodies are baked, Jeff's in town, the sun is shining, and we've got a lot of happy on the agenda...

Pictures tonight!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

P.S. And my computer magically started working again when I got to work this morning!  Thanks God, glad to know you don't have it in for me this week too! ;)
