I'm starting a new little series here. "Midweek Confessions" we'll call it. I'm not posting a link-up at the bottom, and I haven't designed a cute little button (yet), because usually when I do those things the idea totally bombs. I just find myself doing a lot of silly/embarrassing things that I'm sure (or, I sure hope) many of you can relate to during the week... So, let's just confess it and move on. K?
- I'm not making anything for Thanksgiving this year. Jeff is making green-bean casserole and sweet potato casserole because those are his two favorites. He even tracked down the family recipes and did all of the grocery shopping. I feel a little like a bad housewife; but, heck, I'm NOT a housewife. I'm thankful for my stud in the kitchen.
- NO ONE is participating in my table decorating contest (see above)... Including me. Life happens, and my lofty plans for a Pinterest inspired Thanksgiving table fell through when I remembered I have a job and a baby, and can't even keep my dining room table clean, much less decorated. I'll take pictures of my mom's pretty table and post them on Friday instead. Consider this the official Table Decorating Contest 2011 Cancellation. Sorry friends - not that you were going to participate anyway. ;)
- Monday afternoon I asked my mother-in-law to keep Sam for a few hours so that I could catch up on some chores around the house. She, of course, happily obliged. In my 3+ hours of free time, I did not "catch up" on ONE productive thing. Instead, I drank coffee with my mom, ate Chipolte by myself, and drug out ALL of my Christmas decorations only to be so overwhelmed by the mess that I just got my baby back and put us both to bed. The house looks like a glitter tornado swept through. Tonight will be attempt number 2 (while Jeff is cooking).
- I love Jesus, and I know the reason for the season, but... My favorite Christmas song is still Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas for You." I LOVE it. And, no, I don't really like Michael Buble's new remake. I'm sure it is the more sophisticated/musically advanced version, but I'll stick with my girl Mariah thankyouverymuch.
That's all for today. Come back tomorrow to see pictures of my little guy in his turkey long-alls and the standard "I'm Thankful for" post. In the meantime, what are your "Midweek Confessions"?
I "cleaned our house up" yesterday by throwing everything in the bottom of the coat closet. AND PROUD OF IT! :)
ReplyDeleteConfession: I will watch Love Actually a thousand times before Christmas, and then run through my house SCREAMING that song at the TOP of my lungs.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, indeed.
My favorite song of the season is also Mariah's "All I Want for Christmas is You!" It's always the first song I listen to in order to ring in the season! :) And watching Love Actually... such a good way to spread Christmas cheer!!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about Thanksgiving... and I'm glad you're thankful for your husband who helps in the kitchen. We just brought our baby home last week and my wonderful husband and parents are taking care of Thanksgiving... :)
I've loved reading your blog and as a new (VERY new) mom and a teacher I find it very helpful!
hahaha, I love Mariah Carey's Christmas songs!!
ReplyDeleteI have not went grocery shopping for my Thanksgiving dish contribution ingredients. It's Thanksgiving eve. The shelves are empty. I say I won't do this every year--but every year I have to postpone that till next year!
ReplyDeletei love mariahs all i want for christmas! it reminds me of singing it in chorus for the winter festival when i was 14 haha :)
ReplyDeletei may or may not have had tons of ideas about things i was going to make for thanksgiving dinner...and im probably not doing any of them.
time to eat chipotle by yourself? that my dear, is what i consider productive alone time.
happy thanksgiving! xo
I am glad to know there are other people out there who can't make it through the holidays without "All I Want For Christmas" on repeat. I'm really debating about making it my ringtone soon too... :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE every single thing about this post.
ReplyDeleteI told the hubs last night "please just go grocery shopping and I might help cook it" when he wanted to discuss our Thanksgiving meal with me. :)
I also watch "Love Actually" 1,000 times every Christmas season - LOVE MC's song!
Have a happy Thanksgiving!
I just started doing something similar on Sunday but am adding obsessions to the confession mix...

That's my favorite christmas song, too. That whole cd is fantastic. Girl can sing! Haha.
ReplyDeleteI love the link-up idea and would so participate. I have been saying I wanted to get my Christmas decor our since last weekend, but did not - simply becuase I just knew I would be overly overwhelmed. Let's try this weekend. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeletetoday I wrote a five page book critique. I only accomplished this because I read a couple of reviews.... I know as a teacher you would LOVE to hear this ;) But I'm a college student who works.... a lot. I don't have time to read a boring book.
ReplyDeleteI love this!
ReplyDeleteConfession: I haven't cleaned our house in TWO weeks. Ooops!
it's our generation...we all have a sweet spot for some Mariah! HA!
ReplyDeleteI have to confess, the no sugar lasted less than 12 hours! ha!!! prolly a good thing since i barely made it thru work yest without it and today was even worse
