My Dining Room

For the last three weeks, Kelly's Korner has been hosting a House Tour of sorts.  This week, we're sharing our dining rooms!! So, here's mine ours:

Please excuse the crooked and burned out lights.  Oops!

It is kind-of a bland room, but I like it because it is a hodge podge of vintage family furniture.  (Really, Jeff and I have bought VERY LITTLE furniture for our house... Almost everything is a hand-me-down from the wonderful people in our lives.)

Eventually, I plan to fill these with nuts and acorns for a natural fall look.  If you look closely, you can tell I'm getting a slow start!  Haha!

The dining room table and credenza belonged to my Great Aunt Glenna and Uncle Joe when they first got married in the 1920s.  She handed it down to my mom and dad who used it for years when I was younger.  Then, when Jeff and I got married, my dad gave it a fresh coat of black paint for a more 'Pottery Barn' look and gifted it to us.  :) I love that it has a story of its own.

The Singer sewing machine (and no, this isn't the one I plan to use to learn to sew) was my great grandmother's.  Poppy had it in his basement for FOREVER, and I always said I wanted it for my own house one day.  Now a days, I realize these aren't exactly uncommon; but, I still love it!

Hope you enjoyed my tour! (And a special thanks to my husband who took these photos at 7AM today!)

Come back later to find out the winner of my Stella Jewelry Giveaway!!

  2. Cute room. Also, I just turned 30 this year, so I can't do a 30 Before 30 list... but I am near the beginning of something similar: 101 Things to Do in 1,001 Days. My blog is all abou that, plus fun stuff like dining rooms! :-)

  5. Nice! I love the paint color, too. It's such a warm shade -- beige can come off kind of... Well, beige. But the color you picked is very earthy and contrast really well with your white trim. Love it!

My mom has that same (from what I can tell from the picture) Singer machine that my grandmother gave to her when they moved into assisted living. She hasn't figured out what to do with it yet -- I like the idea of using it as a table! Very cute.

    Thanks for sharing!

  10. I didn't know a Singer sewing machine could become quite an heirloom. My mother has one similar to that and guess what, it was handed down from her mother.

  11. I love your paint color, too! It's always hard to pick a good brown/beige. I also love all of your furniture - always nice to have a story behind it.

  12. saw your blog from Kelly's Korner. We also got a sewing machine and we're repurposing it too as a table. Yours is in much better conditon though. Ours is really worn out and was thinking of sanding and restaining it.
