Bachelor of the Week #9: Secret Agent Edition

Ok... It's been a while since I've done one of these, but they seem to be quite a hit.  Plus, if Kelly says it's cool, it must be.  So here goes...

Ladies, meet the man of your dreams...

Bachelor #9:
"Secret Agent Man"
(Real Estate Agent that is)

New Listing:
- Single White Male
- Age: 32
- Hometown: Roanoke, Virginia
- Studied Secondary Education at Clemson University
- Currently a Residential Real-Estate Agent in Roanoke
- Restores and sells vintage cars on the side
- Comes with or without a beard

I like a lot of things about this guy... I like that he is a Clemson TIGER.  I like that he is a dog-guy.  I like that he loves Jesus and the mission of Young Life.  I like that he is a professional but doesn't take himself too seriously, and that he seems to always be in the middle of a crazy adventure.  But, probably most, I like that he can rock croakies and a tie OR jorts and a trucker hat just the same.  This guy is FUN.

Bachelor #9 is all about making the most out of this life and laughing as he goes. He isn't afraid to be silly, wear a crazy costume, or get dirty.  And, he has mastered the art of dry wit.

Here's what he had to say about himself:

"I am very joyful and feel that aside from finding the right girl, I have a perfect life. I love telling my dog 'Beef' that she’s pretty,  helping old ladies cross the street, and anything outdoors.  I love Clemson Football, when we play with heart. I love mountain biking, running, playing tennis, and working out several times a week. I have always enjoyed working with my hands and anything that is a challenge... I own a house and am always trying to find projects to remodel and make updates.  But my real passion is restoring old European sports cars, Land Rovers, and Jeeps.  Currently I’m working on a VW van with a friend to drive across the U.S. and for camping.  I love road trips of any distance and taking time to enjoy everything along the way. For everyday life, I drive an ’84 Mercedes, it has a bike rack, can run on veggie oil, and I love it. I believe in having nice things, while living simply. There is a lot of comfort in not competing with the world to always obtain more.  I also enjoy spontaneously going to see concerts: country, 80s, indy, and oldies music. Oh, and I drink beer on the weekends and out with friends but I know Jesus still loves me."

Family is important to "Secret Agent Man."  Most of his family lives locally, and he has a great relationship with them. Growing up in the south, his parents taught him early on to be polite to women, open doors, and pay for dinner...

His ideal date would involve driving around a neat small town to look at the cool architecture and stores, then a casual tennis game or long run together.  Afterwards, they'd run by the store to pick up some salmon to fix on the grill (He has a great salmon recipe), get cleaned up, have a glass of cheap wine, and listen to oldies, while making dinner. If the mood struck (and the right song), he'd surely woo her with his shag dance moves.  (If you've never seen a Southern boy shag, you are guaranteed to MELT the first time.)  After dinner, they'd settle in for a movie then go for a walk with Beef, no matter how cold it is.

Sound like a deal or what?

In a girl, he is looking for "someone who would be described as having tons of personality.  She needs to be witty and confident in who she is.  She needs to love Jesus and know who He is in her life.  Being at least pretty physically active is a must, otherwise she probably won’t really like hanging out with me, because I don’t like watching TV too often.  As far as her looks, I am not looking for someone that everyone looks at when she enters a restaurant, I’m looking for someone that some may glance over, but a couple will say 'that girl is strikingly beautiful'.  Sort of a best friend that I think is a knockout.  Brad Paisley wrote about her in the song 'The World'. I hope to find a girl who is classy in the way she acts and dresses, yet is not so focused on what people see to find her worth there."

Alright... if you fit the bill, act now!  This bachelor won't be on the market long! ;)

Bachelor of the Week #8: Ministry Edition

This post has been a long time coming... This week's eligible bachelor is a dear friend of ours and an excellent catch.  When I heard Kelly was hosting another "Show Us Your Singles" day, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to introduce...

Bachelor of the Week #8:
"Pastor Seth"

If his smile hasn't already hooked you, let me tell you a little about this Virginia gentleman...

Born and raised in the south, but educated in Boston, this 29 year old is a perfect blend of down home manners and hospitality with a good dose of Northern pragmatism - especially when it comes to equality of the sexes etc.  After receiving his undergraduate degree close to home, he attended Gordon-Conwell for a Master of Divinity and then Harvard University (yes, a Harvard grad ladies) where he earned his Master's of Theology.  Today, he is living in Roanoke teaching online college courses in World Religion and Christian Theology, while also dabbling in insurance to "pay the bills."  One day, he hopes to get his Ph.d and teach at a major university.

Impressive resume aside, his heart is first and foremost for Jesus.  But, don't be intimidated... Beyond that, he enjoys playing the piano, writing music (but always forgetting the composition), distance running, reading, studying old languages (really, really old ones), watching plays and artistic movies, and writing.  He is also a fantastic teacher and loyal friend --- I can say that with confidence from personal experience.  :)

"Pastor Seth" is looking for a godly woman to share his passions, his ministry, and his life with.  Specifically,  he wants someone "who is passionate about her relationship with Jesus, and who approaches Him with a sense of mystery and reverence; A woman who gives definition to her community, but who is not defined by it; A woman who is not afraid to be weak, but who is not afraid to be strong either; A woman who can build sandcastles on the beach like a little girl, but who can navigate an international airport without anxiety; A woman who isn't bound by her past, and isn't afraid of her future; A bold and free-thinker: A cross between Scarlet in the red dress and Joan of Arc."  (Can you tell he's a writer?  And, a romantic?!?)

And, better yet, his ideal date is "a night sitting in front of the ocean with a bottle of red wine talking about ourselves, our ideas, and our art."  Hooked yet?

Ladies, don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity!  He is the kind-of guy we make lists about when we are in high school.  ;)  Email me right away if you are interested (e@emyselfandi.com)... This offer won't last long!
P.S. Check out past Bachelors of the Week under the tab at the top of my homepage and come back for more soon!

Bachelor of the Week #7: International Edition

Well, I guess I should clarify... He lives in Roanoke.  BUT, he is a second-generation American from China and he basically grew up in a Chinese restaurant... I thought this blog was getting a little too homogenous... Agreed?

Anyway, please meet... Bachelor of the Week #7
"International Man of Mystery"

Um, seriously, this is the picture he wanted me to use.  At least it shows off one of his incredible talents: photography.  (And modeling?)

Joking aside, this is a great friend of ours who (literally) can do EVERYTHING!  He is one of the most talented and passionate guys I know.  (Not to mention incredibly generous.)  At 25, Mr. International has a list of hobbies a mile long.  They include: photography, videography, motorcycling, building/home repair, cooking (trust me when I say he's darn good --- especially with fried rice), and anything involving the great outdoors.

In addition to this, he has a heart for travel and an impressive passport to match.  In fact, in the last four years he has travelled to Africa (where he routed fresh water to eleven nearby villages in the remote NW region), Sweden, Bulgaria (mission trip), and Tibet (extreme hiking & mission).  Clearly, he's not one for the mundane!

Despite his degree from Virginia Tech in Industrial Design, Mr. International dreams of making a career out of his life passions - mainly adventure and capturing life's most precious moments on film.  He hopes to one day "live in a barn" that he converts into a studio loft on several acres, travel the world, be a professional shuttlecock player or curler, and meet Justin Bieber.

This guy is the REAL DEAL!

Intrigued yet?

He knows what he wants too!  If you love Jesus like crazy, have a strong sense of humor, can laugh at yourself, are exceedingly beautiful, have a nice smile, and aren't afraid to do something wild like bike across the country... You've just found your Prince Charming!

Act now.  Offer may not last.  (e@emyselfandi.com for more information)

Bachelor of the Week 6: Northern Edition

AHH!  Kelly posted early!  Good thing I was rarin' and ready to go!  Enjoy!

It's been a while since I've done a Bachelor of the Week post, but I'm coming back with a bang today!

First, I've got a GREAT guy for you.

And, second, I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner for "Show Us Your Single Guys" day... What better way? Really.

So, let's get started... Shall we?

I'd like to introduce you to... Bachelor #6:
"Professor Hann-some"
Perfect for you Northern gals, this 29 year old academic prepster is located in central Pennsylvania, where he is pursuing a Ph.d. in Political Science at Penn State.  He will be finished coursework in a year begin working on his dissertation and looking  for the perfect university teaching job after graduation - the sky is the limit!. With a passion for politics and history, he's always up for an insightful conversation over coffee.  But, don't worry, he doesn't take himself too seriously. In fact, his wit is probably his most charming characteristic!

Like the campus lifestyle and a deep conversation?!?!  This one's for you!!

"Professor Hann-some" is also a HUGE college football fan - rooting for Virginia Tech, Alabama, and Penn State especially.  But, when it's not "Game Day" you can find him helping out with Young Life leadership (his faith is super important to him), listening to indie music, playing tennis, or practicing his guitar.  Talk about well-rounded!

And, to top it off, some have said he looks like George Michael Bluth or Rob Bell.  So, basically, if you like Arrested Development and Jesus - you've just met Mr. Right.

He's looking for a Christian girl with similar interests who enjoys an afternoon spent at Barnes and Noble and an evening hearing a local band. If you think that might be you, just email me your contact info at e@emyselfandi.com.  Hurry and get it while it's hot!!

It's Baaaaack!!!! Bachelor of the Week

Yesterday, I received an email from a "loyal reader" reminding me that it had been awhile since I last posted a "Bachelor of the Week."  Even better, said reader had a suggestion for the newest member of the club.  And, well, I'm not one for letting down my readers...

So, please, allow me to introduce you to.... Bachelor #5:
"Scottie the Humorous Hottie"
TAKEN

This 25 year old country boy hails from a farm in middle-of-nowhere Virginia, but makes a living in the Norfolk area as a Nuclear Engineer for the US of A government.  (I'd tell you more, but then I'd have to kill you.)

Don't let the job title fool you though, "Scottie" is all about making people laugh - even at the expense of his own image!!  In fact, many would say his sense of humor is his "second-best quality."  (After his stunning good looks, of course!)

When he's not cutting his hair into a mullet or rocking a pair of jorts, "Scottie" can be found in the great outdoors.  A lover of all things Southern, he's not afraid to spend a week in the mountains, or get up before the sun for a good morning hunt.

Of course, on Saturdays he's likely to be as close to Blacksburg as possible, so he can cheer on his beloved Hokies!  Interested parties should be willing to make sacrifices during football season (and/or join in the fun yourself)!!

Don't worry though, this stud can still clean up and treat you like a lady.  In fact, "gentleman" runs in his genes.  He'll take you out for a night on the town in his fancy ride; or, if you're lucky, cook a meal himself.  In fact, he's quite the kitchen connoisseur!  Even better, in the words of his best bud: "He's a strong Christian man with good manners and good behavior."

On Facebook, he describes himself by saying: "The way to my heart is through food.  I also love to laugh and be outside."  There you have it ladies.... Can we really ask for anything more?

Could you be this rugged man's sweetheart? Only one way to find out!!  Email me ASAP if you are interested.  Trust me, this one won't be on the market long!! :)

Bachelor of the Week Returns

Well girls, I might be driving across the country, but I have not forgotten to bring you cute boys along the way.  (This one's actually from Roanoke, but pretend he's from the Grand Tetons or something!)

So, without further adieu, please meet... Bachelor #4:
"Mr. B"
Think he's cute now?  Just wait till you hear this... He also TEACHES FIRST GRADE!!  Now, if that doesn't make you fall in love, you might be a lost cause! :)

"Mr. B" is a twenty-seven year old Roanoke College graduate who just finished his fourth year teaching in the elementary school classroom.  Not only is he great with kids and passionate about education, but he's got a slew of other awesome qualities too...
To begin with, "Mr. B" owns an awesome cape cod - complete with a well-cared-for in-ground pool (SCORE!) - just waiting for a lady's touch! Plus (get this), he's NEAT too!  In fact, this bachelor makes his bed every morning AND isn't afraid of the vacuum.   Are you sold yet?

Although he works part-time at Abercrombie, he is more of a "J Crew guy," who appreciates a good sense of style and an occassional trip to the mall.  In addition, he enjoys running and working out in  his free time and describes his ideal date as "something low-key like dinner and concert."  His favorite musicians include Jack Johnson and John Mayer.  And, his worst addiction is... Lemonade!

"Mr. B" is looking for a Christian girl with strong values and an emphasis on family.  Smokers need not apply!

Could this be the guy for you?!?!  Hurry... He's sure to go quickly!

*If you know someone who might like to be featured, please e-mail me at e@emyselfandi.com right away!  :)

Bachelor of the Week 3: Southern Edition

Ok ladies, this one's for you Southern gals...

Coming to you straight from the country music capital of the world, meet Bachelor #3:
"Politic - Al"

I mean, before I go any further... Can't you just imagine yourself standing in this beautiful tropical location with this handsome hunk?  Life doesn't get much better than this!

"Politic-Al" is a twenty-four year old Pi Kappa Phi UT alum currently working towards his MBA in Nashville.  In the meantime, he's busy building a respectable life for himself in the suburbs and enjoying "city life" as much as possible.  His tastefully decorated three-bedroom house, adorable dog, and sparkling BMW are just waiting for the right girl to become his Mrs.

A passionate Republican, "Politic-Al" isn't all business.  He spends every Saturday in the fall cheering for his SEC football teams (Go Vols!), and warm weekends sailing his family boat at the lake or listening to Jimmy Buffett on sandy beaches.

Is music your thing?  Al is a lover of all good music, especially the live variety.  And, he'd be THRILLED to find a permanent partner for late night karaoke duets downtown.

Raised in Virginia, it didn't take long for this one to become a southern boy through and through.  He can successfully sport a bowtie and cowboy boots, values a good "croakie" and "coozie," can name every country song ever written, and will drive all the way to Memphis for the best barbeque in town.

Ladies, this one is the real deal!! Comment or e-mail me for more information... :)  Offer won't last long!

*I am currently looking for the NEXT Bachelor of the Week.  Please help me out!  If you know someone who might like to be featured, please e-mail me at e@emyselfandi.com right away!  :)

Bachelor of the Week 2

Well, ladies, your response last week was positive (although I'm pretty sure "Joe Doe" is still on the market). So, it's time for another...

Please meet... Bachelor #2:
"Uncle Brett"

Tired of playing the dating game?  Ready for someone you can really be yourself around, and who will take your relationship seriously?  This sun-tanned stud might just be your DREAM-COME-TRUE!

A 26 year-old Roanoke native, "Uncle Brett" is a true family guy with a charismatic personality, and a heart for all things preppy (including girls). Already worn out by the crass "business world," by day he is a children's soccer & swim coach and country-club pool manager, and by night he is studying to be a teacher. In his free time, He puts the MAN in manny as the designated "Uncle" for half of town... Kids LOVE him and (guaranteed) he'll charm his way right to your mom's heart too!!

A former WVU Mountaineer athlete, "Uncle Brett" loves a good run and a good party.  A closet R&B love-song addict, he's learned most of his "skills" from Boyz II Men.  And, he's not ashamed to admit his passion for fashion, or his unique hobby -- grocery shopping late at night when its quiet and spending forever looking for as many deals and manager specials as possible.  While he certainly has a wild side, he'd much rather spend a low key night with someone special than a night on the town...

Ladies, this guy KNOWS what he wants and he is anxious to find her!  He's looking for a natural beauty who enjoys a similar lifestyle.  "I want a girl who is strong enough to be independent when alone, but when I'm around I want her to lean on me for strength and support; must love the Lord and be a Christian, preferably no tattoos (if so, small and not in a very revealing place), great sense of humor, easy going, [and]must love/want CHILDREN."

Sound like the guy for you?  Don't let this one get away!!!  Comment or e-mail me for his contact info!  (Long distance is NOT a problem!)

*If you know another Mr. Perfect who you think would like to be featured as a Bachelor of the Week, simply email his photo (formal poses preferred, but not required) and a short biography to e@emyselfandi.com. I'd LOVE to feature him!
