I have to admit something, and I really hope it won't change your opinion of me... Are you ready?
I am not a shoe person.
It isn't that I don't like shoes, I've just always been the type to choose a new blouse (or five) over a cute pair of shoes. I've always been kind-of hard on my shoes too; so, consequently, I've got a closet full of cheap (like, less than $20/pair) shoes that completely fall apart and need to be replaced with the same boring black/gray/brown/tan pairs the next year.
Want another confession? Ok... Up until about two weeks ago, I kind-of thought Clarks were orthopedic shoes for old people. (What can I say? My Granny was a big fan.)

Want another confession? Ok... Up until about two weeks ago, I kind-of thought Clarks were orthopedic shoes for old people. (What can I say? My Granny was a big fan.)
But, times, friend... They are a-changin.
These days (I am approaching 30 you know), I have found that those cheapy shoes with no support and no shelf-life just don't fit my lifestyle anymore. As a teacher, I'm on my feet A LOT; and, as the mom of a wild two-year old boy, I pretty much need to be ready to break into a full sprint at any second. Slowly but surely, I've been warming up to the idea of actually investing in QUALITY shoes that will feel good and last a long time...
Of course, I'm not willing to sacrifice style. (I've got 100 judgmental teenagers looking at me all day, and I'm not going to turn into an old frump.) Thankfully, I was recently re-introduced to the Clarks brand through Zappos and very pleasantly surprised at their super-stylish and practical options that also feel really good.
I admit that when I was first contacted about this review, I was skeptical. Clarks? Really? But, when I pulled up the brand on Zappos.com I couldn't believe all the great shoes to choose from - I seriously had a hard time just picking two!
When it came down to it, I wanted shoes that would be appropriate to wear for both work and play since most of my days involve a good bit of both. So, ultimately, I went with a classic pair of riding boots (with a tiny little heel to make me feel like a grown-up) and a staple loafer/flat in a great "mushroom" color.
Would you like to see them a la fashion blogger? Of course you do! (You know I couldn't resist the opportunity to wear my fake glasses like the pros do too. Ha!)
Ordering on Zappos was a breeze, and the shoes came SO fast (like, two days after I ordered them). Both pairs fit true to size (I ordered a half a size up in the boots to accommodate my monster-calves jeans, etc.), and are SO comfortable!!
Clarks makes all of their shoes with premium materials, innovative technology, and quality craftsmanship and, trust me, it shows! Now that I'm used to wearing good shoes, I don't think I can ever go back.
Here are a couple of my favorites that didn't make the final cut:
From trendsetter (yes, they even have booties) to classic, dressy to casual, Clarks really does have a shoe for everyone. PLUS, when you buy from Zappos.com you also get free shipping and a 365-day return policy.
Still think Clarks are for old people? See for yourself by visiting the Clarks shop on Zappos.com or call (800) 927-7671.
And, while you're there, start your wish list because one lucky E, Myself, and I reader will win a $100.00 credit to spend at Zappos!!
To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment telling me What comes first when you're buying shoes? Style or comfort? (Also, just for fun, I'd love to know which shoes are your favorite from the line!)
Good luck!!
Good luck!!
*In case you didn't figure this out already, I got the shoes for free. BUT, I seriously love them and have already been recommending them to all my friends and family. I wouldn't mislead you. Promise.

I am rather vain sometimes, so I completely go for the style first. Then, I later completely regret my decision when I fear putting the shoes on because they KILL my feet! I love, love, love Clarks! I have always wanted to try a pair of their Wallabees!
ReplyDeleteTotally comfort! That being said, I've only bought Clarks for years! I'm really liking the "Poem Emerald" style--need new flats!
ReplyDeleteMy Clark's desert trek's are some of my favorite shoes ever...but they are getting old...I need a new pair!
ReplyDeleteI love comfortable shoes--and I LOVE THOSE BOOTS!! Who knew!!!!
ReplyDeleteComfort is key!
ReplyDeletei dont kmow that I choose style or comfort... price first :) I NEED to start wearing nicer supportive shoes because recently my feet have been killing me! Not sure if it is age, the fact I wear flip flops everyday, or all the running around I do.. maybe all three! Those shoes are all really cute!
ReplyDeleteComfort first, for sure!! My husband and I are both very devoted Clarks shoppers. I would flip my lid to win the giveaway, and I would DEFINITELY copy you with the riding boots. They are adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteComfort is super important - closely followed by style, but comfort still trumps style. I LOVE those boots. I alos would have never thought that Clarks made such great styles of shoes!
ReplyDeleteComfort and cuteness are equally important, which is why I wear the same like 5 pairs of shoes all the time. It's hard to find affordable shoes that meet both qualifications!! LOVE those riding boots though! I'm also a big fan of the black wedges in the little collage- SO cute!! Pick me!!
ReplyDeleteComfort is super important - closely followed by style, but comfort still trumps style. I LOVE those boots. I alos would have never thought that Clarks made such great styles of shoes!
ReplyDeleteI used to have a closet full of $20 and $30 flats and heels and then I realized, I like to wear the same 2 pairs of shoes pretty much all the time, and when you buy cheap shoes they wear out quickly. Now I try to focus on buying 1-2 pairs or really high quality shoes that will last and that I love a couple times a year. Might as well spend the big bucks (if necessary) since I know I'm really going to get my money's worth!
ReplyDeleteComfort!! I am liking aerosols lately but can be hard to find!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately looks. My father-in-law is a podiatrist, so I do feel guilty about the shoes I wear sometimes.
ReplyDeleteComfort - Full time working mom of 2 kids under 2 1/2 here! And I want those leopard ones!
ReplyDelete- Allison I.
I have also tweeted about this new find!

I definitely go for style over comfort, but I have a busy 2 year old boy that is quickly changing that way of thinking. I've been wearing Clarks for a few years, and I just love the Wallabees. I have 3 pairs that I just love. I stumbled across some pink Wallabees a couple of years ago, and just LOVE them! I also have 2 pairs of the tan suede Wallabees. I just can't make myself get rid of my first pair. They are so old, yet so comfortable!

ReplyDeleteOh, oh pick me!! I've definitely gone over to the mom-side and tend to pick comfort over style (Birkenstocks anyone?). A combo of both is just what I need!
ReplyDeleteComfort, but they still need to be cute. I'm almost 8 months preggo right now, and flats are my best friend, but if I can find a comfy pair of heels---jackpot! I'm super into boots right now, I love the pair you picked out!
ReplyDeleteCan I say Both? I won't buy an ugly shoe just because it is comfortable and I won't by a "stylish" shoe if it is not comfortable. I think the Clark Wallabees do both for me, and I have been wearing them for years, the same pair, and they have held up great. I LOVE the boots you got but for $300 I knew I had to enter this giveway so they would only be $200...(I can do math! yay!) Here's to hoping for some new kicks! xo
ReplyDeleteBoth--but I think style wins out a little bit...and I'm liking what I see with Clarks!
ReplyDeletei usually go for style first and comfort second.
ReplyDeletelove this post! you look so cute in your glasses and those boots! love it :) I def choose stlye b/c no matter how comfy they are, if they're ugly I am NOT wearing them!!! But I b/c I'm so tall I need a low heel! I want to be your boot twin gf!
ReplyDeleteI usually go for comfort first. What good are cute shoes if you can't wear them without being in pain? I love those Clark boots, but they are way out of my price range.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/yetihunter/status/385794173279821824
ReplyDeleteI usually go for comfort first, and then my younger, hipper sister mocks me until I cave and buy cuter shoes...that often end up staying in the closet! I'm very intrigued by the comfort/style combo. of those Clarks boots!
ReplyDeleteComfort all the way! I wear a size 12-13 in womens shoes, so MOST of the time, style is never even an option....much like bra shopping. Then I have to make sure my orthotic will even fit in my shoes to ensure I am a happy person for the day. But yes, I am on my feet a lot with the youth center and my own kids.
ReplyDeleteI usually go for style...but comfort is important! My husband dragged me to Clarks recently...and I was the one that left with purchases. Super cute shoes!
ReplyDeleteI definitely look for style first. I think about what in my wardrobe the shoes could go with. I do try them on for comfort, and more often that not, if they are uncomfortable I won't buy them. I can't stand being in awkward fitting shoes all day. I love some good old fashioned Wallabees in Beeswax for a more casual look and the Mission Brynn boots in Tan Leather because they are really cute and stylish.
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm a Mom, I'm all about comfort!! I love those riding boots!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAs a first grade teacher and mom to an 18 month old boy that NEVER sits still, I always look for comfort first. Danskos were my "go to" shoes, but I'm getting bored with them. I loved the Ryla Castle pumps. Such a fun color that shouts out to my Clemson roots.
ReplyDeleteTough Question! I need fashion and function. As a teacher I really think that comfortable shoes are a MUST. However, I am vertically challenged and as a middle school teacher I like to be "taller" than my students so I like to wear a heel... see the dilemma... comfy heels are HARD to find.
ReplyDeleteWhich is why I LOVE zappos! When I need a new pair of shoes I order like 5 pairs that I think look good and then return the ones that do not work.
I am seriously thinking about going online and ordering #1 and #3...even though 3 is a flat shoe it is still super cute!
Definitely comfort/need comes first over style. I always bought cheap tennis shoes since that was all my family could afford. This comes at a perfect time though because I am looking for a good pair of stylish yet comfy shoes as I begin my teaching observation hours. :D
ReplyDeleteI guess comfort comes first for me? But I am really, really reluctant to wear shoes that I don't think are cute!
ReplyDeleteI would say style comes first? But I definitely wouldn't buy a shoe just because it's cute if I couldn't even walk in it! I'm a lot like you - I hate spending money on shoes but now I'm rethinking that idea. I love the boots you picked out and probably would choose the same! :)
ReplyDeletei always go for style, because USUALLY the only reason i buy shoes is because i need them for a specific purpose (to go with an outfit for a wedding, for example). but after that, it's 100% comfort. 110%.
ReplyDeleteand i LOVE those boots. i'm in the market for some new boots.
So I fell in love with Clarks a couple years back when I found a ridiculously CUTE pair at a Dillard's shoe sale. I was BLOWN AWAY they were Clark's AND way cute too! Anyway, I have to say I'm almost always making sure my shoes are comfortable first, but if they aren't cute, I won't even try them on. Ha! So they're pretty much tied!
ReplyDeleteAnd I tweeted about the giveaway, though I really want to keep it to myself. (Not like that really would increase my chances of winning this, right?) :)
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/megstidbits/status/385840826464473088
I would go with comfort. I wouldn't buy shoes if I knew they would be uncomfortable. But then again, I also wouldn't buy them if I thought they were truly ugly. Tough call. I like your picks!
ReplyDeleteI do choose style first, always, but comfort hAs to be pretty good as well!
ReplyDeleteNot gonna lie...it used to be style first. But I am old now...29 whole years old! And I choose comfort. On the days I want style I wear my flip flops or Uggs (depending on the weather in good ole Minnesota) and then change into my stylish shoes for meetings in public!
ReplyDeleteI really like the boots you got. Sweet! I prefer style. :)
ReplyDeletesarahmudder@gmail.com

Cute... but as I am getting older, I need the comfort :(
ReplyDeleteBecause I wear a size-12 shoe, style tends to be an afterthought anyway - shoes just don't look that cute when you blow 'em up that big! ;) So, comfort, hands down.
ReplyDeleteComfort always comes first since I'm on my feet all day in the classroom. However, I won't buy unless they are also cute. So, both?
ReplyDeleteComfort! #teacherproblems
ReplyDeleteComfort. It was style until I started nursing and was on my feet all day too! You had super cute picks! I loved the leopard prints that didn't make your cut, but would probably have to go with the Mission Brynn.
ReplyDeleteBoth! I think it's possible to have both, especially as a mom on the go and a high school teacher!
ReplyDeleteAs a dumb 20 yr old, I chose fashion over comfort {and paid for it frequently.} Now that I'm 29 and wise, I go for comfort! I've had lots of pairs of Clarks for my work shoes because I can actually have a comfortable heel! I think I'd splurge on a pair of Desert Boots if I won though!
ReplyDeleteStyle now that I don't work in a factory any longer!! Love the black wedges would be a great staple.
ReplyDeleteI should say comfort, but sadly... I still go for style if I'm not in my running shoes!
ReplyDeleteBeth
As a physical therapist I'm all about quality and support (aka comfort) but as a woman I'm all about how cute they look with my jeans. I love the boots you chose!
ReplyDeleteComfort almost always win on my trek for new shoes!
ReplyDeleteComfort, comfort, comfort! Nothing worse than hobbling round a classroom with sore feet!

ReplyDeleteI really don't like shoes with backs so my first question is usually "Is it a slip on?" Fortunately Clark's makes lots of slip-ons!
ReplyDeleteI go for comfort first but they also have to look good!! I love the riding boots. I've been looking for a nice boot for fall and winter!! Awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteComfort always comes first, but I never buy a pair that I don't like because then I won't wear them!! I think I've worn heels a total of four times since Cameron was born! :) Great giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a teacher too so comfort! But I love the Purity Snow wedges. I think they could work for a full school day.
ReplyDeleteComfort!

ReplyDeleteComfort ALWAYS wins in my book! Cute shoes!!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely comfort for sure!! I am a server on my feet constantly, a college student walking around campus, and I'm student teaching so I'm on my feet literally all day!!
ReplyDeletestyle if it's for a short period of time...otherwise comfort wins :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been style for me lately, but I think I need to switch to comfort! Wouldn't it be nice to have both!
ReplyDeleteI usually go with style unless I am teaching! Then I wear a good ol' fashion pair of flats- luckily I have some pretty stylish ones! Love those boots you scored & the black wedge pumps- so classy!
ReplyDeleteComfort definitely wins, and that's something I tend to struggle with because I'm not always willing to spend a ton of money on a nice pair of shoes. That is slowly changing, though, the more years I teach!
ReplyDeleteComfort!
ReplyDeleteOh comfort absolutely. I am also a teacher and my dogs are a barking at the end of most days! Love both your choices. I'm on the hunt for new brown boots and these are great!

ReplyDeleteI have to find a balance between style and comfort. But if I had to choose I would go with comfort.
ReplyDeleteI'm am all about comfort because if my feet aren't comfortable the rest of me won't be. But comfort and style can go hand in hand .
ReplyDeletecomfort is most important to me
ReplyDeleteComfort! I refer to reviews that say shoes are comfortable or I don't even buy.
ReplyDeleteI also have to thank Zappos for allowing me to process an exchange last week on the "comfortable" shoes that actually ripped off the back of both of my feet. Literally. Three times. Got a real pair of comfortable shoes and can't be happier!
Also, Clarks are amazing and I have the most comfortable shoes from them. They can't be purchased ever again (as the style is discontinued) so I hope my shoes last forever!
I'd go with #4 from your picks!

ReplyDeleteI used to care about style, but comfort has to come first for now on. I have two surgeries on my right foot this Friday and I must stress that comfort is extremely important when it comes to shoes.

ReplyDeleteComfort comes first for me.
ReplyDeleteStyle comes first. I will not try on a shoe if it does not catch my eye. But if it feels too uncomfortable I will not buy it.
