Little Mister Baby Shower

Well, you know I've been excited to share the Little Mister Baby Shower Libby and I threw for our sweet friend Laura (and her Little Mister) a few weeks ago... We had a blast planning it together, and it was such a blessing to get to celebrate this family with so many people that love them.

I'll let the photos do most of the talking...

I really want to take credit for the beautiful house and amazing decorations, but Libby did about 95% of it.  She is amazing ya'll - such a good mama, wife, friend, cook, and crafter.  She's one of those people who really can do it all; but she is still so real and genuine that you still really like her. ;) She knows pain - true pain - but she also knows Jesus; and, a result, true joy. I'm thankful for Laura, blogging, and - in a weird way - cancer for making us friends.

Ok, focus...

TriciaNae designed the invitations (of course).

I "made" the bowtie onesies for Baby Wright with iron-ons from Boy Oh Boy Boutique on Etsy.

All the food was carefully planned with the mama in mind - including Chick-fil-a nuggets and "bowtie" pasta

DELICIOUS cupcakes and cookie favors were made by Sarah from Sarah G Designs (the best cakes in Roanoke - for real).

We played two simple games - a Baby Wright word scramble and a funny game where every guest wore a bowtie (which Libby made) and had to avoid saying certain "off-limits" words to keep it.  At the end of the shower, we gave a prize to the person who had acquired the most bowties.  *I might have stolen one two for Sam.  :)

Probably my favorite part of the shower was the prayer time we shared at the end. Laura and Cliff gave us a list of specific prayers they have been praying for their little man. (These two are praying professionals, seriously.) In addition to a time of prayer together, Libby & I also attached one request to each of the cookies for guests to take home and continue praying.

And, apparently, navy and white were the unofficial uniform colors of the shower. Ha!

Just waiting for March 30th, when Sam will meet his new bud and Ava her future husband. ;)

Little Mister Wright, we love you already!

TGIF

Guys, I woke up happy today... Jeff is home, the sun is shining, the house is clean (no thanks to me), Sam only woke up ONCE last night*, and it's Friday.  What's there not to be happy about?

Anyway, a few things:

- Thanks for your advice on the bumpers.  I needed some positive feedback.  Jeff needed it too and even agreed that we can put it back in this weekend - it's kind-of a task.  So... I'll let you know.  *In the meantime, I may have discovered one of the secrets to helping Sam sleep better (fingers crossed)... TWO diapers.  He and his big booty self get a lot better rest when he isn't soaking wet.  Imagine that!  It only took about two weeks for me to figure that out.  #geniusmom (just trying this out)

- I'm trying to become a more social network savy blogger.  I realize this is a ridiculous goal; but whatever. I'm not a runner or a knitter or a diy-er, but I'm pretty good at this online community thing (can I say that?) ... So, I'm going to work it.  That said, I still don't understand anything about Twitter or Instagram.  (Or really even Pinterest for that matter.)  I'd like to chat with some of you that know what you are doing, do some research, and play around myself for a while; THEN, I want to do some tutorials on my blog.  It seems like I'm not alone in this quest to become a better social-networker.  Am I right?  Can anyone offer some "training"?  If so, email me at e@emyselfandi.com.
This is yesterday's March Photo-a-Day challenge pic.  The theme was UP.  It is an awful picture, but I still kind-of like it.  That's Jeff's mom on the floor (I'm sure she will love me for posting this) playing "airplane" with my little giggler.  I didn't ask them to do this, I just caught them in the act. Loved it.  P.S. Please excuse the optical illusion that is our sunroom right now... It's a work in progress.

- Kind-of related to the above... I'd really like to try to bring in a little more income on my blog this spring.  I'm actually sort-of embarrassed to write that because somehow I feel like it goes against the blogger-code; but, you know how I feel about being honest.  So, I'm being honest.  I LOVE this.  I LOVE this platform, this storybook, this friendship.  I also spend a lot of time and energy on it.  And, people that love sewing and commit time and energy to it don't feel guilty when they start selling their products on Etsy, right?  I will keep blogging whether I'm making money or not - because that isn't what it is about for me - but it would be such a blessing to bring in a few bucks too.  Would you consider joining my very loyal sponsor Stella Jewelry for the month of March?  I'll treat you right - promise!  If you're interested, email me (again) at e@emyselfandi.com.

Alright, that's all for today friends.

Let's Talk Instagram

So, as you know, I'm a little obsessed with my iPhone.  But, now that the novelty of simply carrying it around has worn off, I'm thinking I should probably learn how to actually use some of the super cool apps I downloaded...

I found this neat March-Photo-a-Day Instagram Challenge here and thought it would be a good place to start. It might also help break me out of the only-take-photos-of-Sam phase I'm in. Should be good.

Want to follow my photos?  I'm emyselfandi (creative name, huh?).

Are you participating?  Leave me your insta-name below!

Also, if you can tell me how to actually use Instagram have any advice for making the most out of Instagram, it would be MUCH appreciated.

Happy March 1!
