Help a Brother Out!

I wouldn't usually do this kind-of thing... but, it is for a good cause (and a good friend)!

Our friend Jake (you might remember him from here) is participating in a 150 mile bike ride for Multiple Sclerosis in June.  He recently had a friend diagnosed with MS and - being an adventuresome and "take charge" kind-of person - jumped on the wagon (err, bike) to help!
According to the website: The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will use funds collected from the MS Bike Tour to not only support research for a cure tomorrow, but also to provide programs which address the needs of people living with MS today. Because we can fight this disease by simply riding a bike, because we have chosen to help thousands of people through a contribution to the MS Bike Tour, we are now getting closer to the hour when no one will have to hear the words, "You have MS."

If you have any interest at all, I URGE you to support Jake and his team.  You can click here for a link to his page.  It's always fun to find ways to connect people's passions AND a charity. :) Thanks guys!!

And... as a (only kind-of related) fun fact: Medical research is close to my heart BECAUSE my grandfather gave the very first polio vaccination in 1954.  Polio is definitely one of those diseases that you never hear about anymore... what a blessing!!

This is my grandfather to the right and, despite what it looks like, I promise he did not hurt that little girl.  Here is an article about him from The Washington Post after he died in 2006. He was really a pretty incredible man. (In more ways than just this one!)  Anyway, just thought I'd take this semi-appropriate time to share my little claim to fame...

  2. Your grandpa was handsome! And I mean that in the least weird way. ;-) I just love old black and white photos-my grandpa was handsome too! I'd like to get dressed up in 40's style clothes and do a b&w photo shoot with my hubby!

  3. Thank you for putting up this post! Jake wanted to get the word out there and we've been sending emails, but this is AWESOME! We really appreciate it(and hopefully Jake will let you know that too)!
